HO CHI MINH CITY: AN INSIDER’S GUIDE TO SHOPPING

Der er virkelig mange steder, hvor man kan få styeret sit shoppe-behov i Ho Chi Minh City, men hvis du drømmer om at finde de gode ting, i en høj kvalitet og til en fair pris, så skal du læse den her shopping guide!

Lige nu har jeg boet 10 måneder i Ho Chi Minh City og jeg har virkelig forsøgt, at komme ud og opleve alle de mange shoppingsteder. I den her guide fortæller jeg ikke om alle de store kendte shopping mails, men i stedet får du mine tips til de mindre markeder og små butikker, hvor du vil finde nogle ting, som du med sikkerhed ikke kan få der hjemme.

Right now I have been living in Ho Chi Minh City for 10 months, and I have tried my best to come around and find the best places do my shopping. In this guide I will not mention all the big and very well known shopping malls, but instead I will guide you to find the smaller markets and shops, where you will find stuff that you don’t have in your home county. THE NEW PLAYGROUND

26 Lý Tự Trọng, Bến Nghé, Hồ Chí Minh

The New Playground er et super cool og urban shoppingcenter, der ligger under jorden og alle de små shops er ejet af unge Vietnamesiske desingere. Her får du chancen for at opleve tidens trends blandt de unge vietnamesere og jeg garantere, at du her kan shoppe gode sager, som du ikke har mulighed for at finde der hjemme.

English: The New Playground cool and urban underground shoppingcenter. All the shops are owned by cool and young Vietnamese designers. So in The New Playground you get the chance to experience what’s hot around the young Vietnamese people and I promise that you don’t find stuff that you would be able to buy at home.

TAKA PLAZA

Công viên, 23/9 Phạm Ngũ Lão, Nguyễn Thái Bình, Hồ Chí Minh

I Taka Plaza er der fyldt med ting, som du aldrig ville købe eller gå med, men hvis du – lige som mig – godt kan lide at gå på jagt blandt alle de mange boder, så har du chance for at finde nogle rigtig fine og specielle ting, til rigtig gode priser. Noget af det gode ved Taka Plaza er også, at du altid har mulighed for at vinde en størrelse, der passer dig. Det kan ellers godt være lidt en udfordring i Vietnam, hvor størrelse small svarer til en Europæisk XXS.

English: In Taka Plaza you will find lot’s of stuff that you would never wear, but if you – like me – love to spend some time searching and finding the nice stuff, you will be able to buy unique items at really nice prices. The nice thing about shopping in Taka Plaza is that you will always be able to get the right size, and some times that can be hard in Vietnam, where size small is a European size XXS.

LIIQ RUSH

100 Le Thanh Ton, Quận 1, Ho Chi Minh

Den her butik er en af mine favoritter i Ho Chi Minh City. Jeg er ikke vild med alle deres ting, men hver gang jeg går der ind, finder jeg mindst én ting, som jeg ikke kan leve uden 😉 Stilen minder mig lidt om det svenske ‘COS’ som er et af mine absolutte favorit brands. Hos LiiQ Rush er alt deres tøj kun lavet i sort og hvid og hvert item er lavet i et begrænset antal. I den her butik skal man forvente at betale mellem 700.000 – 1.200.000 Vietnam Dong for et stykke tøj. (200-350 kroner) og det er dyrt i Vietnam-forhold men fra et Europæisk perspektiv er det jo stadig rigtig billigt.

English: This store is one of my favourites in Ho Chi Minh City. I don’t like all their items, but I always find 1-3 pieces, that I feel that I can’t live without. The brand reminds me of the Swedish ‘COS’ one of my absolute favourite brands in the world. At LiiQ Rush all their cloths is made in only two colours: black and white and all items are made in limited amounts. Be prepared to pay around 700.000 – 1.200.000 VND for one item. In Vietnam-terms that’s a little expensive but from a European perspective it’s cheap! 🙂

HELLO WEEKEND MARKET

Đường Đinh Tiên Hoàng, Đa Kao, Quận 1, Hồ Chí Minh

Hvis du leder efter en anderledes shopping-oplevelse, så må du ikke snyde dig selv for en tur på Hello Weekend Market. Hver lørdag og søndag popper det lille marked op og en masse unge Vietnamesiske designere sælgere deres ting. Det er en virkelig sjov oplevelse, og du vil formegentlig være den eneste ikke-vietnameiskse kunde på markedet. Det plejer jeg i hvert fald at være. På Hello Weekend Marked finder du alt fra smykker til sko, iphone gadgets, mad og tøj.

English: Looking for a different shopping experience? Then you have to spend a weekend-day at Hello Weekend Market. Every Saturday and Sunday this kind-of-flea-market pops up with a lot of young Vietnamese designers. It’s a really fun experience, and you will properly be the only non-Vietnamese visitor. At least that’s what I experience when I go there. They have everything from jeweller y to shoes, iPhone gadgets, food and cloths.

SAIGON SQUARE

77 Nam Ky Khoi Nghia, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City

I Vietnam betyder ‘Copyright’ – Retten til at kopiere. Det vil du opleve på Saigon Square, men hvis du formår at kigge uden om de falske sko og tasker, så kan du også være heldig at finde nogle lækre varer i højere kvalitet end på andre markeder i Vietnam og til nogle gode priser. På Saigon Square kan man godt være heldig at kunne prutte lidt om priserne, men generelt er priserne faste og fair.

English: In Vietnam the word “Copyright” has a different meaning: The right to copy. This you will experience if you go to Saigon Square, but if you look trough the fake shoes and bags, you will be able to find some really nice stuff at a much higher quality than you will find on other similar markets. You can be lucky to push the price a little bit down, but most of the time the prices at Saigon Square are fixed and fair.
